The Hen House Cafe in Inverness

Late on a Saturday morning there was plenty of people dining in. There's no outdoor seating at the Hen House.They don't seem to be practicing any distancing in the dining area though the servers were wearing masks.As usual the food is good. We had breakfast and though it's possible to really screw up breakfast foods most places manage to know how to cook eggs. Nothing I've ever had made there made me want to rave about the cooking , likewise I've never had a food complaint either.Prices are typical diner prices. I don't dine here often, but for others it's the go to place for breakfast. I am not fond of the booths, too uncomfortable for me, but there's plenty of tables available every time I do go so it's never been an issue.4/5 I'd recommend for a decent breakfast.

gosh, I really wanted to give 3.5 - I found the food to be bland but my friend thought it was good. I thought service was on the slow side ... maybe I’m just picky, Breakfast is my favorite meal so I have been to a LOT of breakfast places, especially the local diner type spots. I probably won’t be back but if you’re not as picky as I am, this diner might suit you.

Wait staff is top notch. Food is better than a fast food or franchise diner. Beware, soda comes in cans with no free refills. Today our soup was not very flavorful. It wasn't bad but I couldn't call it good. Cash only so be prepared.

Solid, no frills breakfast place. The service staff was very friendly and the food came out quick. The bacon was super tasty. The pancakes were okay, decent fluff. The French toast was okay, not the worse I've had, but there wasn't much flavor and it was a little dense. The coffee was typical dinner quality, slightly watery. It started getting a little busy when we left, 8am, but it has a lot of seating so they can hold a decent crowd.

Loved the food and the service! Had their biscuits and gravy and they passed the test for me! Can't wait to go back and try their breakfast burrito! Our server was awesome and made us feel like VIP guests!

Food is good and staff is always friendly! We usually come for the skillet..which is no longer actually on a skillet but still very good! Lol. Pricing is perfect and you always get great value for what you buy.

Made with attention to detail and love, the biscuits and gravy were delicious. I had an egg bowl with bacon, onion, jalapenos and cheese on top of superb home fries. Served with toast. We tried a pancake, really big and good. Hubby also tried hash browns and a side of bacon. Again, perfectly prepared and wonderful flavors. We will go back to there. Quite a fun drive for us and a fulfilling meal waiting to be consumed. You won't be disappointed.

The Hen House Cafe is a good place to eat. You'll be greeted immediately upon arriving. Your food, which is good, comes quickly. However, there is one thing that sets this eatery apart - the Dementia-Friendly sticker on the door. I have never seen that before and asked Jessica, the waitress, about it. She explained that they were the first business in Citrus County to get the specialized training to help the restaurant wait staff to better serve their guests who suffer from Dementia. She told me that the word has now spread and other businesses in the area have taken the training which is run by a local woman who's husband suffered from this debilitating disease. Be sure to stop by and support this business next time you're looking for a down home place to eat that really cares about making all their guests feel comfortable.

Everyone is really great and very friendly. And the food is really good.

This is the quintessential American Breakfast Diner! The waitresses are incredibly friendly and they know pretty much every locals name. The food is fantastic and far from grease spoon featuring perfectly cooked eggs, hash browns that are the perfect balance of crisp outside and soft on the inside, and the bacon is out of this world with it's smoky flavor that has just a hint of sweetness. This will be a regular place for our little guy to eat...oh and did I mention we received two breakfasts with coffee for under $20!

Even after much traveling, I always look forward to The Hen House breakfast. Nothing compares to home, I guess. The chicks that serve you treat you like family, and they always have a smile. My favorite place to enjoy breakfast and see family and friends.

First of all the food was absolutely wonderful it always is the waitresses we're wonderful they always are everyday you just can't be a great place to eat and to bring your family

The waitress was really kind and friendly. Place was clean. However, I asked for home fries and they brought me hash browns instead so I just ate them which were only luke warm.I asked them for their home-made bread that they supposedly bake themselves and they gave me store bought whole wheat toast which was ice cold. One of us ordered liver and onions and the gravy was canned. Can end up being a real great place to eat if they only brought up their game. I did like the fact that it wasn't noisy. Not sure if we will ever go back except for an establishment follow up. (Retired NJ Diner Owner).

We have eaten there several times in the past and have always been happy. This last time though we had to wait about 45 minutes for our food. When it came two of the the three orders were wrong. We were so hungry by then we just ate it. The food was good and the prices were fair. We never got an apology from the wait staff or the restaurant. Our neighbors at the restaurant felt so sorry for us that they paid our bill before we left. We will probably not go back there again unfortunately!
